John D Buquoi Jr
John D Buquoi Jr founded Dragonwave Optical Network Services (ONS) with the goal of providing clients with world-class quality services at a fraction of the cost. He wanted to bring the expertise and precision of the large corporation with the attentive, personalized touch and affordability of a small business.
John has over 28 years of experience in the field of SONET, DWDM, OTN, Metro and Wireless Networks. As a seasoned multi-vendor Optical Transport Engineer, he has a proven track record of success in designing, deploying, and maintaining complex optical networks both domestically and internationally. John has extensive experience as a Sr Optical Transport Engineer with some of the biggest names in the industry like AT&T, ONI, Fujitsu, Ciena and Cisco. He has honed his skills in providing solutions that meet the demanding needs of today's communications industry.
His expertise in optical networks and extensive travels have given John a unique perspective and understanding of the industry. This has taken John on assignments across the United States, as well as to Asia, where he has successfully deployed optical networks in Japan for NTT and Crosswave Communications, as well as in South Korea with South Korea Telecom.
John is a highly motivated and enthusiastic engineer with a strong background in both theoretical and practical aspects of optical and wireless networking. He has held senior level positions in the past with Inter-Tel, AT&T, Cingular, Ericsson, ALU, Sprint, Ledcor, Ericsson, JPMorgan Chase and has a strong reputation for providing innovative solutions to complex problems.
John currently works alongside his team of technicians and engineers in the field, where he exclusively contracts his service fulltime to Cisco’s largest global distributor. John is one of the four Cisco Subject Matter Expert (SME) Resident Sr Transport Engineers selected by this distributer and Cisco for this long-term deployment supporting a national top tier terrestrial based and wireless carrier.
